2012

September 30, 2012 - The 2012 season came to an end on a cool Sunday evening at Quincy Raceways.

September 24, 2012 - The temps really cooled off Sunday night at the Bullring, but track officials were on the ball, starting on time and running a quick, efficient program.

SEPTEMBER 17, 2012 - Sunday night was a special night in several ways at Quincy Raceways. For one, it was season championship night, with track point champions crowned in six divisions.

SEPTEMBER 12, 2012 - After two weeks of rainouts, we finally got back to the business of racing Sunday at the Bullring. This was the first night of the new qualifying format, and for the most part , it went smoothly.

August 21, 2012) -  There was bonus racing Sunday night at the Bullring, with eight feature events showcasing eight different winners.

August 13, 2012 -  Family business took me out of town on Sunday, forcing me to miss my first night of 2012 at Quincy Raceways.

July 30, 2012- The word of the night Sunday at Quincy Raceways was "streaks".

July 18, 2012 -  Sunday night was another warm one at QR. Even with the one hour late starting time, it is difficult to keep the oval from drying out in 90 plus degree temps.

July 9, 2012 -  The temps cooled off a bit and the breeze took a turn to the south for a change on Sunday.

July 8, 2012 -  When the UMP Summernationals Hell Tour late model schedule came out, Quincy Raceways was not on it, which was no surprise.

July 2, 2012 -  The landscape was definitely different as I walked through the pits on Sunday, as the UMP late models and IMCA stock cars had the night off, and the Midwest Open Wheel 410 cubic inch sprint cars made their first appearance at QR in their second season of operation.

June 25, 2012 -   The action was nearly as hot as the temperature Sunday night at Quincy Raceways.

June 18, 2012 - Another good field of 87 cars in the six classes checked in Sunday night at Quincy Raceways.

June 11, 2012 - Another solid field of 87 race teams checked in on a warm Sunday evening for mid season championship night at Quincy Raceways.

June 6, 2012 - Unlike many racing destinations around the midwest, car counts at Quincy Raceways continue to stay strong in 2012.

May 28, 2012 - A solid total of 84 race teams checked in for the holiday weekend race night at Quincy Raceways.

May 21, 2012 - A mid afternoon shower did nothing to dampen the action or the enthusiasm Sunday night at Quincy Raceways.

May 15, 2012 - The racing at Quincy Raceways Sunday night was nearly record setting with over 100 cars signed in for only the second time in recorded history.

May 8, 2012 - The weatherman threatened, but finally gave in so we could get night number three of the 2012 racing season in the books. At first glance, it looked as though there would be very few there to see it, but when the engines fired and the sprinkles quit, a nice sized crowd filed in for some great action.

April 8, 2012 - Many things were different Sunday night at Quincy Raceways, but a few things remained the same.

April 3, 2012 - A new chapter began sunday night as Quincy Raceways opened the gates for the 38th consecutive season of racing.

March 22, 2012 - The 2012 racing season kicked off this weekend with the annual car show at the Quincy Mall. A large group of 38 race teams were on hand to diplay their shiny new rides as we continue to count down to opening night, Sunday April1.

January 24, 2012 - There were a pair of errors in my Sunday report that need to be corrected. Defending IMCA Sport Mod champion Joe Bliven will be campaigning his own ride for 2012, having purchased a car a couple of months ago, and rumor has it that the Uppinghouse family car will have a new driver for this season.

Also, Springfield,Il hot shoe Brandon Sheppard, son of Steve Jr. and grandson of Steve Sr. was the Northern All Stars point champion in 2011. Ryan Unzicker was the UMP national points champion. Both of these drivers are possible entrants when the All Stars make their first stop at QR on April 15.

September 26, 2011 - The 2011 racing season at Quincy Raceways came to what by all accounts was a successful conclusion Sunday night, September 25.

September 13, 2011 - With just a hint of autumn in the air, Sunday was a beautiful night at Quincy Raceways. The late models took center stage, as the Summy Tire Top Ten Late Model Shootout for the top ten point drivers in attendance ran what amounted to an extra feature event.

September 5, 2011 - With the second night of the USA late model nationals at 34 Raceway rained out and rescheduled for Sunday, Quincy Raceways promoters deferred to the annual event and reset the holiday weekend race featuring the Sprint Invaders to Monday night. even with the short notice, both the car and fan count was not too bad.

August 31, 2011 - Sunday night at Quincy Raceways brought the curtain down on the IMCA late model point’s season.

August 23, 2011 - Clear skies and a full grandstand contributed to a good night of racing Sunday at the Bullring.

August 17, 2011 - The weather man gave us a beautiful Sunday night at Quincy Raceways, and it was reflected in the full grandstands.

August 9, 2011 -  It was not a full moon Sunday night at Quincy Raceways, but it sure felt like one.

July 31, 2011 -  After the disappointment of the late rain shower the week before, Quincy Raceways was back up and running this Sunday night.

July 17, 2011 - Quincy Raceways is finally on a roll, as Mother Nature has replaced Sunday rain with clear skies, but plenty of heat!

July 10, 2011 - The rain stayed away Sunday night at Quincy Raceways, but the heat was turned on both on and off the track.

July 3, 2011 - If it was Sunday, it must have been raining - and it was, at least for a couple of hours.

June 30, 2011 - Against all odds, Quincy Raceways was able to stage mid season championship races on Wednesday night, June 29.

June 14, 2011 - Things were looking and sounding pretty good all day Sunday for a good night of racing at Quincy Raceways. But on the way across highway 24, I noticed the building clouds in my rear view mirror.

June 8 - If you did not take a chance on the Tuesday night reschedule at Quincy Raceways, you missed some of the very best racing of 2011.

May 31 - After the sixth cancellation in nine tries Sunday night at Quincy Raceways, Tony and Paul decided to try something that hadn't been done in several years - racing on the Monday holiday.

May 11, 2011 -  After three straight weeks of Sunday night baseball, Mother Nature finally relented and let us get back to racing at Quincy Raceways. That was the good news.

April 12, 2011 - After a successful opening night at Quincy Raceways, anticipation was high for last Sunday nights visit by the IMCA late model Deery Brothers Summer Series tour.

April 6, 2011 - The 2011 racing season kicked off right on schedule Sunday night April 3 at Quincy Raceways.

March 14 - The 2011 race season unofficially began this weekend with the annual Quincy Raceway car show at the Quincy Mall.

February 13 - Saturday night, January 22, Quincy Raceways help their annual awards banquet, officially closing out the 2010 season. 

2010 Season

QUINCY, IL. (November 1, 2010) - I was fortunate to catch up with Quincy Raceways co owner Paul Holtschlag over the weekend during a visit to the speedway.

QUINCY, IL. (October 6, 2010) - The 2010 racing season came to an early end Sunday at Quincy Raceways.

QUINCY, IL. (September 8, 2010) - It was a rare double header of racing over the holiday weekend at Quincy Raceways.

QUINCY, IL. (August 31, 2010) - All too soon, it seemed, Sunday night was Season Championship night at Quincy Raceways. 55 drivers signed in on a hot humid night, and although the point battles had been close all season, it was going to take some big events to change the course of things.

QUINCY, IL. (August 22, 2010) - Sunday night racing was fast and furious at Quincy Raceways, as the stage was set for season championship night this Sunday. 57 cars signed in to compete in the four weekly classes plus a visit by six of the Kid Modz, a race won by Braden Johnson.

QUINCY, IL. (August 15, 2010) - Sunday night racing at Quincy Raceways featured the usual fare, plus a visit from the UMP Pro Crate late models.

QUINCY, IL. (August 10, 2010) - Sunday night racing at Quincy Raceways featured the usual fare, plus a visit from the UMP Pro Crate late models.

QUINCY, IL. (August 10, 2010) - For the second week in a row, Quincy Raceways was able to get in a night of racing on Sunday, which is something of an accomplishment in 2010.

QUINCY, IL. (August 3, 2010) - After two more long weeks of no Sunday night racing, Quincy Raceways came back to life as the month of August began.

QUINCY, IL. (July 13, 2010) - The most anticipated event of the 2010 circle track season at Quincy Raceways lived up to its billing this past Sunday.

QUINCY, IL. (June 22, 2010) - The best way to describe Sunday night at Quincy Raceways might be " one of those nights!" With the Tri State Stock Car Shootout highlighting the card, anticipation was high for a great night of racing.

QUINCY, IL. (June 22, 2010) - After yet another rainout the week prior, the sky looked good Sunday morning.

QUINCY, IL. (June 8, 2010) -  After missing the show last Sunday night, it was good to finally see some racing for the first time since May 9 at the Broadway Bullring. A total of 66 cars signed in for the night, with a strong total of 24 UMP modifieds leading the way.

QUINCY, IL. (May 11, 2010) - With a bit of luck as the heavy rains missed the Quincy area and a lot of hard work, Quincy Raceways owners were able to get back to racing on Sunday, May 9.

QUINCY, IL. (April 18, 2010) -  Sunday April 18 was the first week of regular racing at Quincy Raceways for 2010. Per IMCA rules, however, points for the premier division will not start until this weekend.

QUINCY, IL. (April 14, 2010) - Welcome to the 2010 racing season! After what seemed like one of the longest winters in recent memory, we had to wait one extra week for that first green flag at QR.

QUINCY, IL. (March 14, 2010) - The 2010 season officially began for Quincy Raceways this weekend, kicking off with the Quincy Mall car show.
