Eight Feature Winners at Quincy Raceways

QUINCY, IL (August 19, 2012) - Mark Burgtorf, Steven DeLonjay,
Michael Larsen, Tony Dunker,
Tanner Klingele and Austen Becerra all took feature
event wins during Kohls Wholesale Night at the Races on Sunday August
19 at Quincy Raceways
while Brian Hoener and Brandon Lambert scored the make up feature
event wins from August 12.
Mark Burgtorf started the UMP Super Late Model feature event from the
outside of row one and took the lead away from Michael Long on the
high side of turn two on the second lap and held off Long through the
midway point of the main event when Kevin Weaver worked his way into
the second spot. Burgtorf worked traffic in a steady manor with Weaver
slowly clawing his way a little closer to the fourteen time Track
Champion. Burgtorf held on to take the win with almost a four second
lead at the checkered flag with Weaver in second, Long in third,
Justin Reed in fourth and Clint Kirkham in fifth. Burgtorf and Brandon
Thirlby were the heat race winners with Long scoring the win in the
fast dash.
Steven DeLonjay solidified his bid for his second Track Championship
in the UMP Modified main event as he chased down early leader,
Jared Schlipman to take the lead on the ninth lap.
DeLonjay then held back the challenges of Dave Wietholder in second,
Jake Griffin in third, Schlipman in fourth and Shawn Deering in fifth.
DeLonjay, Craig Spegal and Russ Coultas were the heat race winners.
Michael Larsen has been knocking on the door for a
feature event win in the IMCA Stock Cars and tonight he finally got it
done. Larsen took the lead on the second lap and held back all
challengers in a convincing manner to take his first ever IMCA Stock
Car feature event win. Abe Huls settled for second followed by Gabe
Harrison in third, Jerry Jansen in fourth and Darin Weisinger in
fifth. Beau Taylor
grabbed the heat race victory.
Tony Dunker grabbed his eleventh feature event win of the season in
the Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA SportMod division over Bobby
Anders in second, Tanner Klingele in third, Joe Bliven in fourth and
Brad Holtmeyer in fifth. Anders and Dunker were the heat race winners.
Tanner Klingele looked well on his way to a Quincy
Hobby Stock feature event win in the makeup main event from August 12,
but a yellow flag on the last lap set up a green white checkered
finish. Brian Hoener edged out Klingele at the checkered flag to take
the win after the restart followed by Jake Powers in third, Brandon
Symmonds in fourth and Jeff DeLonjay in fifth. Klingele wasn’t about
to let that happen again in the regular feature event as he held back
Hoener the entire distance to take the win with Hoener in second,
Nathan Hayes in third, Brandon Symmonds in fourth and Jamie Bevill in
fifth. Klingele and Nathan Hayes were the heat race winners.
Brandon Lambert scored the feature event win in the make up feature
from August 12 in the IMCA Sport Compact division by holding back Pat
Dunker in second, Austen Becerra in third, Seith Woodruff in fourth
and Bryce Baker in fifth. Becerra came back to take the regular
scheduled feature event over Josh Barnes in second, Tony Becerra in
third, Kim Abbott in fourth and Seith Woodruff in fifth. Bucky
Gallaher and Woodruff were the heat race winners.
Quincy Raceways Management has decided to start the
back to school early start time earlier than scheduled on Sunday
August 26, by having the Pit Gates opening at 2:30, Grandstands at 4,
Drivers Registration ending at 4:30, Hot laps at 4:45 and Racing at
5:30pm. Hopefully this will help all the fans with school age children
to get home in a more timely manner as the race season intersects with
school on Monday mornings.
