Wave Quincy Checkers

QUINCY, IL (June 3, 2012) - Jason Perry, Michael Long,
Terry Houston, Bobby Anders, Jake Powers and William
Michel all took feature event wins at Quincy Raceways on Sunday June 3 during Coors and
Coors Light Night at the Races.
The UMP Super Late Model feature event lined up looking like it could
be a great race with Jerry Lierly and Dustin Griffin on the front row,
Jason Perry and Ricky Frankel in the second row and Nick Bauman and
Chuck Mitchell in row three. Griffin jumped into the lead at the drop
of the green flag and was scored as the leader for the first two laps
but Jason Perry had other ideas as he blasted into the lead on the
third circuit and never looked back in taking his second feature win
of the weekend as he led the rest of the thirty laps as they went
caution free. Griffin
closed within striking distance in the closing laps as Perry
encountered the tail of the field but had to settle for the second
spot followed by Bauman in third, Ricky Frankel in fourth and Jim Moon
in fifth. Perry, Lierly and Griffin were the heat race winners with Lierly and Griffin crossing the
finish line in the dash in a dead heat to the thousand of a second.
The Miller Lite Ump Modified main event saw Jake Griffin and Michael
Long on the front row and when the green flag waved, Long jumped into
the lead with Griffin in pursuit. David Wietholder got past Griffin on the sixth lap but had nothing for
Long as he cruised away for the feature event win. Wietholder settled
for second followed by Jared Schlipman
in third, Griffin
in fourth and Robbie Reed in fifth. Wietholder, Reed and Long were the
heat race winners.
Darin Weisinger took the lead of the IMCA Stock Car main event as the
green flag waved and held onto the lead for the first four circuits
then Terry Houston slipped past for one lap. Weisinger
battled back to lead the next lap but Houston took advantage of
Weisinger slipping high in turn four to reclaim the top spot. Houston then held off Abe Huls to the
checkered flag with Huls in second followed by Weisinger in third,
Jerry Jansen in fourth and Ty Hill in fifth.
Michael Larsen
scored the heat race win.
Bobby Anders scored his first ever Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA
Northern SportMod feature event win in holding off Vance Wilson in
second, Tanner Klingele in
third, Tommy Elson in fourth and Austin Uppinghouse in fifth. Wilson
and Tony Dunker were the heat race winners.
Jake Powers scored his fourth feature event win in the Quincy Hobby
Stocks in seven tries. Powers held off Brandon Symmonds in second,
Jeff DeLonjay in third, Nathan Anders in fourth and Nathan Hayes in
fifth. Symmonds and Powers were the heat race winners.
Seventeen IMCA Sport Compacts checked into race on Sunday night and
they put on a wild and crazy main event as William Michel held off all
challenges to take the flag to flag feature event win. Kim Abbott
battled her way through the field to take second followed by Robert
Thompson Jr. in third, Mike Hornung Jr. in fourth and Austen Bercerra
in fifth. Michel, Laine VanZandt and Thompson were the heat race
winners.
