Quincy Raceways Extends 2012 Race Season

QUINCY, IL (September 14, 2012) - Quincy Raceways owners Paul Holtschlag and Bob Rhinberger have announced that the 2012 race season will be extended to include racing on Sunday September 23 and 30.

 Mother Nature decided this morning that she was going to try to help out with the drought situation here in the Tri-State Area. The rain we had last night as well as at noon today and with more on the way, Quincy Raceways was forced to cancel the Sullivan Auctioneers Night at the Races scheduled for Sunday August 26.

Quincy Raceways to Start Qualifying UMP Late Models and Modifieds

 QUINCY, IL (August 24, 2012) - Quincy Raceways is announcing a new starting line up procedure for the UMP Super Late Models and Miller Lite UMP Modifieds for the rest of the 2012 race season.

Both classes will begin to time trial for the first time this Sunday August 26. The UMP Late Models will Time Trial at the conclusion of the Hot Lap sessions with groups of three cars in order of a draw that is done at registration. The Miller Lite UMP Modifieds will Time Trial in groups of three during their Hot Lap Session with a Green, White Checkered format using the same order of draw done during registration. The Fast Six cars in each division will then advance to the Fast 6 Dash/Heat for 10 laps with that starting order invertered on time by the roll of a dice by the Fast Qualifier in each division. The other entrants will line up in heat races determined by their time trials. The UMP Late Models will be paid their standard Dash pay provided by Summy Tire and Auto Center. The Qualifying procedure will be posted on the www.quincyraceways.com website on the night of August 23.

 The Pit Gates will open at 2:30, Grandstands at 4:00, Driver’s Registration Ends at 4:30, Driver’s Meeting at 4:30, Hot Laps at 4:45 and Racing at 5:30pm starting this Sunday August 26. Adults are $10, Seniors $7, Students 11-15 are $5 and Kids 10 and Under are Free as always at Quincy Raceways.

 Kenny “The Hermanator” Wallace will be racing his UMP Modified at Quincy Raceways on Sunday August 26 we were informed this morning. Kenny is best known for his driving in the Nascar Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series as well as being a television personality on the Speed and Fox Television networks. Kenny has raced several times in the past and Quincy Raceways and enjoys competing at the Broadway Bullring when his schedule permits.

The Hell Tour Coming to Quincy Raceways

 Quincy Raceways is proud to announce that the UMP Summer Nationals, fondly referred to as the “Hell Tour” will be returning to the Broadway Bull Ring on Friday July 6. The winner’s portion of the $21,350 A-Main purse will be a whopping $7500 for the forty lap event, the second largest ever at Quincy Raceways. Arguably the most popular late model series in the Midwest, the UMP Summernationals will be back at the Bullring on July 6, the final stop in Illinois for the tour that will wind through eight states and see 29 races in 32 days, the most demanding grind in all of motorsports.

The Summernationals kick off June 13 in Brownstown, Ind., just outside Indianapolis, and conclude July 14 in Wauseon, Ohio. The previous winners of the Summernational races at Quincy Raceways include the defending Champion, Shannon Babb who has two victories, Rand Korte, and Jeep VanWormer.

 The UMP Modifieds and the Quincy Hobby Stocks will be joining the Hell Tour for this event with the Modified portion being part of the Summit DirtCar Modified Summernationals as well. There will be more details announced for the support divisions as it becomes available.

Northern All Stars Late Model Series Cancels All 2012 Events Including Quincy Raceways Show

May 15, 2012 - Quincy Raceways was informed by Shawn Hall, owner of the Northern All Star Late Model Series, that it was suspending the operations and all events for the remainder of the 2012 racing season on Monday May 14. It is with great disappointment that Quincy Raceways will not be able to present the two scheduled NALMS events, May 20 and July 22 for this season. We were very excited to be able to schedule these events for the Quincy Raceways fans and drivers and hoped that they would be a great addition to the schedule for 2012. We respect the decision that the owners of NALMS have made but do wish to express our intent to provide the best racing entertainment possible. Quincy Raceways was fully prepared to present the NALMS race events as scheduled and had expected those events to be very successful..

 Quincy Raceways has obtained permission from IMCA to add back to the schedule for May 20, the Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA Northern SportMods and the IMCA Stock Cars for point’s racing. We will have a complete regular event for Sunday May 20 featuring the UMP Super Late Models, Miller Lite UMP Modifieds, Summy Tire and Auto Center Northern SportMods, the Quincy Hobby Stocks and the IMCA Sport Compacts with all classes competing for Track Points.

NASCAR Star Kenny Wallace to Race at Quincy Raceways on April 29

 April 28, 2012 - A fan favorite NASCAR star Kenny Wallace will be racing his UMP Modified at Quincy Raceways on Sunday April 29. Wallace will be battling the local stars to try and take the laurels back to North Carolina during the John Wood Community College Night at the Races. Wallace will be available after the events activities are concluded to meet race fans in the Quincy Raceways pit area.

 Wallace is known for his wild and wacky antics off track as well as his longevity on the track. He appears weekly on Speed’s NASCAR race coverage on TV and race’s his UMP Modified as much as possible throughout the United States. Kenny has been a frequent visitor to the “Broadway Bullring” over the years as he spent several years helping his brother Mike in the pit area during the NASCAR Winston Racing Series wars during the 1980’s.

Mother Nature Spoils the Fun at Quincy

April 22, 2012 - Mother Nature has spoiled the action at Quincy Raceways for a second week in a row. The sky’s opened up late last night and a persistent rain that lasted until about 8:30 this morning has cancelled the Northern All Stars Special again this week. The event will hopefully be rescheduled at a later date.

Northern All-Star Late Model Special at Quincy Rescheduled for April 22

April 14, 2012 - Mother Nature has forced the cancellation of the much anticipated Northern All-Star Late Model Special Event at Quincy Raceways on Sunday April 15. Mother Nature provided some much needed rain for the area on Friday and Saturday but with more forecasted for Saturday night and Sunday, Quincy Raceways has had to reschedule the event for Sunday April 22.

The Northern All-Stars will be racing for $2000 to Win and $300 to Start on Sunday April 22. The Miller Lite UMP Modifieds, the Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA Northern SportMods, the Quincy Hobby Stocks and the IMCA Sport Compacts will also be racing on that night as well. The IMCA Stock Cars will get the night off.

Rick Barlow DQ Overturned at Quincy for April 8, 2012

 Due to an issue with a Carburator inspection gauge, the DQ of Rick Barlow in the IMCA Northern SportMods at Quincy Raceway on April 8, 2012 has been overturned. Barlow's finishing position, pay and points have been restored for the feature event for that night. The following is the updated results and point standing for April 8.

The newly sanctioned UMP Super Late Models, UMP Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Northern Sport Mods, Quincy Raceways Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Compacts will all be featured divisions for the 2012 season. A large field of racers is expected as the pre-season car show and practice nights have seen a huge interest in competing at Quincy Raceways.
